90 YEARS IN REVIEW

1930
The founding members of Chaminade High School, along with local clergy, joined together for the groundbreaking of the main building.

1945
The first Gold Star Mass was celebrated.

1953

The original chapel in the main building of the school was dedicated by local clergy.

1956

Darby Auditorium was completed and dedicated, beginning a lasting tradition of performances, concerts, and assemblies.

1970

The Province of Meribah purchased property in Muttontown, NY, which became Chaminade’s first retreat house, Meribah.

1977

Chaminade launched Project STAR with a track renovation, addition of a swimming pool, and the expansion of the Marianist residence.

1982

Powers Hall was completed as an expansion of Chaminade’s main building, with seven classrooms and three offices.

1987

Endowing the future: Chaminade established the Torch Fund with the goal of raising money for tuition abatement. Above is a student-drawn graphic, published in Tarmac, that celebrated the initiation.

2000

The Province of Meribah purchased property in Accord, NY. Named Founders Hollow in honor of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, this retreat house is used by both Chaminade and Kellenberg Memorial High Schools.

2003

The Physical Fitness Center (PFC) opened to students, faculty, and alumni. Ott Field was also resurfaced with artificial turf .

2006

After years of planning and construction, the Activity-Athletic Center (AAC) was completed. This building enables the entire student-body to gather for Mass. It also hosts athletics, parent activities, alumni events, and more.

2014

Chaminade’s Gold Star Stadium, overlooking Ott Field, was dedicated.

2015

A backlit Marian cross, designed by artist Jan Rieger, was raised on the facade of the PFC.

2015

Saragossa, Chaminade’s day-retreat center on campus, was dedicated. This building ensures that each Chaminade student has the opportunity to attend religious retreats during his four years.

2015

The Class of 2019 was the first to receive iPads in an initiative to upgrade the technological learning experience at Chaminade.

2018

The Dolan Family Science, Technology, and Research Center was dedicated. The building of this Center significantly enhanced the curriculum in terms of math, science, and research.

2019

The Bloomberg Financial
Center was completed in the main building. Each student now leaves Chaminade with a comprehensive understanding of the financial world.

2020

Chaminade’s first student-relief effort, Chaminade Cares, was launched in the wake of COVID-19. This campaign ensured that no student was turned away due to financial hardship.
